In 2016, Sheryl became the new owner and leader of what she describes as the “best-trained, best-looking and nicest staff of barre and fitness instructors in Tallahassee — or anywhere!”
Sheryl started as a loyal client when The Refinery first opened its doors in 2013. She is the creator of The Refinery Barre Method ™, the proprietary instruction program used by all Refinery barretenders.
Thanks to Sheryl’s leadership and inspiration, The Refinery has been voted “Best Fitness Studio” by the Tallahassee Democrat, has been voted “Best Fitness Studio” by Tallahassee Magazine for three years straight: 2018, 2019, and 2020. The magazine also awarded The Refinery “Best Business Social Media to Follow,” and was voted Best Fitness Studio” by the Tallahassee Democrat.
In addition to teaching at The Refinery’s Tallahassee studio, Sheryl also conducts Zoom classes online, from our new Barre in the Mountains studio in Clayton, GA!
Bianca is our newest instructor and has fast become an online Zoom class favorite.
She received her Refinery Instructor certificate during the pits of the lockdowns, and has been of critical help during our transformation from bricks and mortar to online bits and bytes!
She is from Tampa, pursuing a Master’s degree at FSU in curriculum and instruction and just recently graduated with a bachelor’s in elementary education. She’s been dancing since the age of three, and often goes back to her hometown dance studio to teach dance classes.
Can you tell she’s a ‘Nole?
Savannah Bailey is a face we have all seen around The Refinery many times. She began at the Front Desk, and literally jumped at the chance to train as a Refinery Barre instructor.
She loves sports, especially softball and volleyball. During her free time Savannah enjoys relaxing at the beach and playing with her four dogs. Savannah appreciates a healthy and active lifestyle, and strives to maintain that lifestyle daily! Born in Leominster, Massachusetts, she relocated to Tallahassee while in middle school. She is the oldest of 3 daughters. Come see her at the barre for a great workout!
Megan Sahely is a Refinery favorite; she’s instructed barre classes here since 2015! Megan is a former Miss Kentucky contestant, and recently earned her doctorate in music from FSU.
She is a violin virtuoso, and a virtuoso in our Refinery studio. Megan likes to get up early, so catch her classes in the early morning. She and her husband William are board game — well, fanatics may be the right word. You name it, they play it.
Felicia has the most passionate following at the Refinery. You just plain love her classes! No wonder. Felicia grew up as a ballet dancer and learned early on the importance of and love for an active and healthy lifestyle, and continues it today. Felicia is inspired by the ballet and sports training in her method of instruction, and shares her goals of strengthening, lengthening, flexibility, endurance, and toning with her classes.
As a mother of three and full time attorney, she not only wants to be a role model for her children but also motivate others to achieve a happier life. Felicia is a Refinery Senior Emeritus Instructor.
Lisa is quite possibly the most helpful and empathetic barre-tender we have. If you are unsure, if you can do better, Lisa is quick to give you the personal attention you need (and deserve!). We stress this philosophy at The Refinery, and Lisa embodies it.
She is currently working on her American College of Sports Medicine certification and yoga certification. She is a former dancer, choreographer and cheerleader! She has lived an active lifestyle her entire life which led her to attending and then instructing at The Refinery. Lisa’s mission is to help you discover, achieve and grow into a better mind, body and you! She strives to assist each member of The Refinery in recognizing their own potential and goes the distance in helping members achieve their goals. Outside of The Refinery, Lisa is a 30+ year salon owner and hair designer locally and is the proud mother of two boys.
At The Refinery, redheads rule! Cailey has even earned the respect of our gung-ho 5:30AM crew, which is devoted to our fabulous Felicia Nowels. Try her out! See what makes redheads so special!
Rachel is an ORIGINAL Refinery Instructor. She is known for her upbeat and encouraging personality. With an extensive background in dance and gymnastics, Rachel serves up a high-energy, super fun workout!
As a full-time lawyer, Rachel has a passion for inspiring women to achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle!
Join her for class to find out why we love her so much!
Lily is BACK, teaching Refinery Zoom classes online, to everyone’s delight. Lily is our most beloved instructor, and although she’s away earning her advanced degree right now, she’s a part of our family and has earned the title Senior Instructor Emeritus!
Lily is originally from Orlando, Florida where she trained for 16 years at the Orlando Ballet School. She has 2+ years of experience teaching ballet at a local dance studio and was also employed at Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic as an exercise technician while attending FSU. She graduated from FSU with a degree in Exercise Physiology and is working towards her ultimate goal of becoming a physical therapist. Lily is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and motivating others to do the same!
That’s DR Brown. Jason has earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering, building rescue robots. He’s now off in Phoenix, probably building an antidote to SkyNet. (He’s not our only instructor with a doctorate, but he is our only male instructor with one!)
Jason’s first encounter with Barre was through the Madison Social running group in 2015. He discovered Barre’s toning and restorative exercises were a perfect complement to his running. He has been taking classes ever since, and now teaches the virtues of the highiintensity low-impact classes for all ability levels. His class, Circuit Barre, is a fun, killer, sports, Barre class.
Jason loves to teach whenever he comes into town; if you ever have time to kill before or after class, ask him to show you some videos of his robots.
